Community Type: Established Golf & Lake Neighborhood
The Vibe
Elkins Lake is one of Huntsville’s most beloved neighborhoods — a peaceful, scenic community built around three lakes, golf, and outdoor living. Originally developed as a country estate and evolved into a residential retreat, it offers a mix of homes with mature trees, winding streets, and a vibe that feels both relaxed and connected to nature. Locals appreciate how close it feels to everyday conveniences while still having that quiet, community-oriented character.
Homes & Property
You’ll find a diverse range of homes here, from classic ranch-style and mid-century residences to more updated builds with lake or golf views. Homes typically sit on generous lots — many near water or greenspace — and prices span from entry-level homes into more substantial estates, making Elkins Lake appealing to a wide range of buyers.
Amenities & Outdoors
Elkins Lake shines with resort-style features that aren’t always expected in a city neighborhood:
A 27-hole championship golf course with varied terrain and scenic shots.
Multiple lakes for fishing, walking, and lakeside views.
Swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, and walking trails.
A clubhouse and social gathering spots for events and community connection.
Whether you’re out for a morning walk, heading to a golf round, or enjoying an afternoon on the lake, there’s always an element of outdoor living here.
Schools & Access
Elkins Lake is part of the Huntsville Independent School District, making it easy for families to connect with local schools while also being close to downtown Huntsville, Sam Houston State University, medical services, and parks.
Who It’s Perfect For
This neighborhood fits a wide range of buyers — from families and retirees to professionals who want character-filled homes with access to recreation and nature. If you love the idea of living near lakes and golf, with a sense of community not far from the heart of Huntsville, this is one of the area’s most unique offerings.
